Solid Light Scholars Program

Our friends at Solid Light, an experience design and fabrication firm in Louisville, KY, will be awarding two all-inclusive conference scholarships for Braking Point, the AMM and AIM 2023 Joint Conference in Indianapolis, to emerging professionals in the Midwest region.

Become a Solid Light Scholar to connect with professionals across the region, explore area museums during tours and events, and to present one of your favorite projects as a poster or conversation station during the afternoon reception on Thursday, July 27. Solid Light Scholars will also have an opportunity to meet members of the Solid Light team virtually before the conference, be acknowledged during the Midwest Museums Recognition Lunch on Friday, July 28, and be invited to write an article for the AMM blog following the conference.

Bonus! All applicants will receive a discount on conference registration.

How to Apply:

Emerging professionals at all stages – in school, recent grads, or those in the museum workforce less than 10 years – and located in one of the 8 Midwest states (IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, MO, OH, WI) are invited to apply to be a Solid Light Scholar.

To apply to win one of these two scholarships, share a highlight from your portfolio in the application form linked here. Please submit 1-2 paragraphs about the project you selected to highlight, what you loved about it, and at least one lesson you learned from participation. Include up to 4 photos that illustrate the project (minimum of one).

NOTE: Submit your portfolio highlight through the online application form in one of these document formats: PDF, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, link to Google Doc or Slides, or link to a page of your online portfolio/website. Please submit your project in only one (1) format, and make sure that whichever format you choose contains all of the required information (text and photos).

DEADLINE EXTENDED!

Applications must be received by close of business (5:00pm ET) on Sunday, May 14, 2023, for consideration.

Additional scholarships may be made possible by conference sponsors and annual fund donations. Applicants will be informed of additional opportunities as they become available.
